About the SEC

The Student Engineers' Council at Virginia Tech (often referred to as the SEC at VT or just the SEC) is a student-run organization at Virginia Tech dedicated to serving the student body of the Virginia Tech College of Engineering.

Who We Are

The SEC is divided into three parts - the Directors, the Executive Board, and the General Assembly. The Directors are elected to one year terms each year, and the Executive Board members are chosen through an interview process by the Directors. The General Assembly is composed of interested engineering students who can gain voting rights by attending meetings and serving on committees, as well as Society Representatives.

We have an up to date roster of the Executive Board online.

Joining the Executive Board

While we have no limits on how many students can participate in the General Assembly, the structured nature of the Executive Board means that positions open only as they are vacated by previous chairs, whether by graduation, leaving the SEC, or otherwise. When positions open, they are listed below, and generally an email is sent through the Engineering listserv and an announcement is made through our news section.
