Committed to Student Service Since 1958
Dear VT Engineering Students,
My name is Ryan Gniadek, I am a Senior studying Computer Science, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve as SEC President this year. The SEC is hard at work serving our 10,000+ students and 80+ engineering student organizations through $300k+ in annual giving and 300+ corporate partners.
Our activities are already well underway this year. From September 13th-16th, we welcomed 1,400+ representatives from 312 companies to the 43rd annual Engineering Expo. The university does not organize Expo. The event is coordinated by us, the SEC, a group of fourteen students, to benefit the entire student body. In addition to the numerous of interviews and job offers given to our 6,000+ student attendees, this year’s event brought in ~$600k in revenue for our organization.
The Student Engineers’ Council is entirely self-funded; every year, we depend on our corporate partners’ support to fund engineering organizations on campus, scholarships for students, and all of our other events, including Engineers’ Week and the Engineers’ Ball.
Make sure to check your @vt.edu email so you do not miss out on opportunities to get involved!
Make a Lasting Impact
By facilitating communication amongst students, employers, and the College of Engineering, we provide students the tools and opportunities to succeed, both in and out of the classroom.
Serve the Community
We engage and serve a wide variety of students within the College of Engineering through the distribution of philanthropic funds, such as being subsidized for design team materials, sponsorships for competitions and conferences, and financial support for humanitarian efforts.
Grow Your Network
The Engineers’ Ball is the culmination and final event of Engineers' Week where Engineering students can bring dates / friends, and have a night to celebrate their community and create memories with their peers.
