Supplementary Events & Hosting Your Own Event

As a participating company at the Engineering Expo, you might wish to further enrich your stay in Blacksburg. Whether that involves hosting your own event or attending external initiatives, this policy provides comprehensive guidance.

Hosting your Own Event

Should you decide to host your own event—be it a happy hour, info session, or any other gathering—we're pleased to announce that these events can now be featured on your profile. To have your event included, kindly submit a formal request to sec@vt.edu.

Please note that the Student Engineers' Council (SEC) at Virginia Tech reserves the right to evaluate and approve all such requests. However, the SEC is not responsible for the organization, management, or direct promotion of your event. We recommend independently promoting your events to potential attendees who visit your booth at the Expo.

Collaborating with External Entities for an Event

During your time at Virginia Tech, you may receive invitations from other departments, student groups, or similar entities to participate in career fairs, info sessions, or other gatherings. It's important to note that the SEC has no affiliations with these external events unless explicitly stated. Consequently, any engagement with such events by an SEC partnered company is undertaken at their own discretion and risk.

In certain instances, the SEC may choose to feature select Expo supporting events organized by external entities on the Expo calendar. These may include activities such as resume reviews, headshot opportunities, and mock interviews. However, even when these events are listed, the SEC does not provide any assurance regarding the event's quality, the interactions you may encounter, or your overall satisfaction, since these events are not managed by the SEC.

Adherence to Policy

We value your understanding and adherence to these requirements, designed to maintain the standards of excellence and professionalism upheld by the Student Engineers' Council at Virginia Tech. Your compliance ensures a productive and enjoyable experience for all Expo participants.
