Responsibilities
The Director of Philanthropy manages and allocates the various funds under SEC. These funding cycles are run year round and consist of the Engineering Organization Fund, Lynn Nystrom Fund, International Humanitarian Fund, and Big Contribution. These funds help service a variety of needs for students, researchers, organizations, and faculty in the College of Engineering.

Background
Sam is from Richmond, Virginia, and is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech. His academic and career interests are centered around aerospace and propulsion, with a strong focus on hypersonics and autonomous systems. In addition to his role in the SEC, Sam conducts research at the Center for Vehicle Systems and Safety and is a member of MachWorks at Virginia Tech. Outside of academics, he enjoys hiking, exploring new films, and spending time outdoors.
